Celebrating the Chico Experience

The Chico Experience Week (Oct. 5-14) brings Chico State students, alumni, parents, and friends together for 10 days of fun, education, and reconnection with friends, the campus, and the wonderful City of Chico. Whether you already live in Chico or haven’t been back in a while, you are sure to enjoy The Chico Experience!

Sponsored by the Chico State Alumni Association, The Chico Experience Week will tie together the campus and local organizations and businesses to create a menu of activities for a wide range of audiences with more than 90 events to choose from throughout the week.

Alumni will be gathering for several special events, including the Golden Grad Brunch for the Class of 1962; the 1955-65 Era Reunion; the Department of Recreation, Hospitality and Parks Management 50th Anniversary Reunion; the Communication Studies Alumni Reunion; and the Chico Chapter of the Alumni Association’s annual Fall Mixer.

The annual Chico State Family Weekend will have a period flavor befitting the University’s 125th anniversary. The old-fashioned barbecue will feature food, music and decorations that recall Chico State’s founding year of 1887.  After the barbecue, students, faculty and staff will gather on the Yolo Hall lawn and play town ball, a 19th century precursor to baseball. CSU, Chico President Paul Zingg, who is also a baseball historian, will officiate.

Included during the Chico Experience Week are popular community events such as the Mozart Mile and 5K Run/Walk, the National Yo-Yo Contest and the Sierra Oro Farm Trail’s Passport Weekend.

This fun-filled week kicks off on Friday October 5th with the reception & unveiling of the 3rd Chico Experience Print.

In 2010 the “C” was revealed… Last year the “H” was revealed… What will the “I” look like this year?
