In honor of Founders Week, an outstanding student and alum from each college are rewarded for their success, excellence and leadership. The blog will feature a different college each day during Founders Week, April 4–13, 2014.

Today’s College of Communication and Education honorees share how their drive has led to excellence.

Alumnus: Michael Shea

He didn’t create the famous swoosh, but Michael Shea has worked on and off with Nike since 1996, including being a creative director for the Nike Innovation Kitchen, where latest product designs are conceived. He has also worked within his own design studio and with Levi Strauss & Co.

Shea graduated from Chico State in 1984 with a degree in information and communication studies, and a minor in art and industrial technology. He then went on to receive his master’s degree in design from North Carolina State University.
