This semester has been quite possibly the most intense to date. With an accumulated level of stress from work, class, and all the rest, it’s really time for the semi-annual De-Stress Fest to commence. This week-long event will bring the relaxation resources directly to the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC) for students to enjoy before exams! From free massage and acupuncture, to puppies and poolside lounging, the 2016 De-Stress Fest has pulled out all the stops!

December 5- 9

Monday, Dec. 5: “Massages & Therapy Dogs”

WREC, 2 p.m.–4 p.m.

This week kicks off with relaxing chair massages, and doggy downtime while you wait!

Yoga times: 6:30–7:30 a.m. | 12:30–1:30 p.m. | 5:30–6:30 p.m. | 6:30–7:30 p.m.

 

Tuesday, Dec. 6: “Petting Zoo”

WREC, 2 p.m.–4 p.m.

Bunnies, goats, guinea pigs, and ponies galore! Get some serious support from our furry friends at the De-Stress Fest petting zoo.

Yoga times: 12–1 p.m. | 5–6 p.m. | 8–9 p.m.

Meditation: 6–6:30 p.m.

 

Wednesday, Dec. 7: “Acupuncture”

WREC, 2 p.m.–4 p.m.

Acupuncture causes the nervous system to produce pain relieving chemicals, jump starting the body’s natural healing process and ability to control emotions. (including anxiety!)

Yoga times: 6:30–7:30 a.m. | 12:30–1:30 p.m. | 5:30–6:30 p.m. | 6:30–7:30 p.m.

Restorative yoga: 4–5:30 p.m.

 

Thursday, Dec. 8: “Doggy Downtime”

WREC, 2 p.m.–4 p.m.

Human’s very best friend will be there when we need them most. Help beat the stress of the impending tests with a pat or two of our canine companions!

Yoga times: 12–1 p.m. | 5–6 p.m. | 8–9 p.m.

Mediation: 6–6:30 p.m.

 

Friday, Dec. 9: “WREC Restore”

WREC, 2 p.m.–4 p.m.

Relax and restore as the WREC pool is transformed into spa central! The spa will feature scented hot towels, warm blankets, hot chocolate, and meditative music and nature sounds.

Yoga times: 12:30–1:30 p.m. | 5:30–6:30 p.m.

 

Throughout the week will also be the Stress Less Lounge, where students can keep their hands busy with crafting projects to unwind and have quiet time. Available crafts include yarn monsters, scented eye pillows, painted rocks, and therapeutic coloring!
