Awards and Activities

Volleyball player Gretta Kirkby was awarded the 2020 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Volleyball Championship Scholar Award. This honor is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating at the CCAA championship site for each sport—due to the pandemic, however, all participating student-athletes in each sport were considered for the award.

Publications, Presentations, and Exhibits

Pamela Kruger (Library Special Collections) co-authored a piece titled, “Collecting COVID at the California State University: Shared Approaches, Divergent Implementations.” Published by the World Health Organization, the article explores how CSU campuses are collaborating, supporting, and sharing information about COVID-19.

Kate McCarthy (Dean of Undergraduate Education) authored an essay titled, “Secular Imperatives,” for inclusion in the upcoming collection, Interreligious Studies: Dispatches from an Emerging Field.

Matthew Stone (Department of Recreation, Hospitality, and Parks Management) co-authored a chapter entitled “Consuming gastronomy while traveling: What do tourists want?” for the forthcoming book Tourism in the Mediterranean Sea: An Italian Perspective, with lead author Roberta Garibaldi (a visiting scholar at Chico State in summer 2018) and Andrea Pozzi.

Joel Minden (Department of Psychology) appeared on the Think Act Be podcast. Episode 120 of the podcast is titled, “The Best Tools for Managing Anxiety and Depression.”
