Awards and Activities

Chico State first baseman Willie Lajoie was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week. In the season-opening series against Saint Martin’s, Lajoie clubbed five extra-base hits and drove in seven, while extending his hitting streak to 11 games—extending back to February 29, 2020. Later in the week, Lajoie was also named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s Player of the Week for the West Region for his efforts.

Chico State starting pitcher Cody Gentry was named the CCAA Pitcher of the Week. In his Chico State debut against visiting Saint Martin’s, Gentry one run on three hits in five innings pitched.
