Have you ever felt cooped up in Chico? Maybe you just want to experience something new. Regardless of your situation, Adventure Outings is your gateway to the outdoors.

Adventure Outings (AO) is an outdoor recreation program that connects the Chico State community to the outdoors of Northern California and beyond. AO is staffed by more than 30 student trip leaders and two career staff. The program offers a variety of trips including rafting, kayaking, surfing, hiking, backpacking, skiing, rock climbing, snowshoeing, caving, and more. Our trips range in difficulty to accommodate the novice adventurer to the more experienced expeditioner.

In addition to adventure-based outings, AO hosts the annual Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, offers a back-country yurt, and operates an equipment rental center designed give the campus community the proper gear for AO and personal adventures. Adventure Outings also operates the climbing gym in the Wildcat Recreation Center which is open for general climbing, bouldering, and regularly-scheduled belay classes. Each of our trips have scholarships available for student.
