Fond Farewell: Concrete Industry Management Major Dominic Lencioni

Dominic Lencioni

Dominic Lencioni, a concrete industry management major, passed away September 7. He was 19.

Born April 14, 2005, Dominic grew up in Arroyo Grande and graduated from Arroyo Grande High School, where he was on the wrestling team for four years and earned the coach’s Golden Eagle Character Award his senior year. Upon arriving at Chico State in fall 2023, it became his second home. His family shares that “he loved the campus, the people, and all the outdoor activities in close proximity.” He made friends quickly and was a member of Tau Gamma Theta fraternity.

He also immersed himself in his major, eagerly engaging with the topic of concrete and recently completed an internship with Skate4Concrete and New Line Skateparks, where he worked on the construction of a new skatepark in Connecticut and gained hands-on experience while learning about career opportunities in the concrete industry.

Concrete industry management professor Nick Steinberg said Dominic’s charisma and enthusiasm lit up every classroom and he had a talent for inspiring others.

“There is no question Dom had a bright future ahead of him. Recently completing an internship with a skate-park contractor, he was able to combine his education in concrete with his passion for skateboarding,” he said. “Dom was an exceptional student, mentor, and friend, whose influence will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.”

Dominic was known for his infectious smile and laughter, his big heart and depth of kindness, and his ability to talk to anyone. Loyal and always up for an adventure, he was a presence of positivity wherever he went.

Adam Meyer taught Dominic in an algebra class in spring 2024 and said he made an impression as a bright young man.

“He was affable and warm while often carrying a smile,” Meyer said. “He had a group of friends that he would take the lead of and explain new concepts. He had as much of an effect on his group as I did mathematically.”

Beyond his studies, he loved being outdoors—camping, on the water, hiking, fishing, off-roading, skateboarding, and water and snow sports—and spending time with his friends and family.

A celebration of life was held in Arroyo Grande on September 21. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for contributions in his name to the Dominic Lencioni Legacy Concrete Skatepark Internship.

Dominic is survived by his parents, Marshall and Delores Lencioni; sister Jenna; future brother-in-law Carlos Padilla; grandparents Wayne and Marty Bucholz; his high school sweetheart Emileigh Juarez; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and extended and bonus family.
