California State University, Chico will hold an on-campus “Vaccinate Chico State” clinic on Tuesday, May 11, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The clinic is open to all students, faculty and staff, as well as the greater community, and will take place in Shurmer Gym near the intersection of W. 1st St. and Warner St. (map).

Upon arrival at the clinic, participants will have the option to choose either a first-dose of the Pfizer vaccine or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Those who choose Pfizer will have the opportunity to return to campus on June 1 to get their second dose. Appointments are required and can be scheduled at https://volunteersignup.org/RPY8X.

“Giving the Chico State community an easy way to schedule and receive their vaccine is one of the most important things we can do to stop community spread, reopen campus and curtail this pandemic,” said CSU, Chico President Gayle Hutchinson. “We hope any Wildcat who hasn’t yet scheduled their vaccination appointment will take advantage of this convenient opportunity to do so.”

The clinic will have approximately 200 doses available. The number of doses may be extended should demand create a need. There is no cost to get vaccinated and free parking is available in the Stadium Parking Lot ¼ mile north of the gym off Warner Street.

On April 22, the Chancellor’s Office announced the California State University system will require students, faculty and staff at all 23 campuses to get vaccinated against COVID-19 before the start of the fall 2021 semester. The requirement is conditional upon one or more of the vaccines gaining full approval by the FDA.

“Instead of waiting on the CSU mandate, our hope is that everyone who is able to get vaccinated will be proactive about doing so,” said Hutchinson.
