Members of the Associated General Contractors student chapter devoted much of the 2017–18 academic year to restoring Caper Acres, an iconic children’s playground in Chico. A collaboration between civil engineering, construction management, and concrete industry students—and with support from faculty and industry partners— the volunteers added new features, enhanced safety, and restored historic elements.

Over the course of nine months, 50 volunteers devoted 2,744 hours, valued at $90,000, and saved the city of Chico more than $135,000 in labors and materials.
