Worth Sharing: Larsen Twirls Back-to-Back No-Hitters, Earns Back-to-Back Honors

Publications, Presentations and Exhibits

University Communications presented at the annual Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District VII/Far West Connect West conference in San Francisco last Thursday. Ashley Gebb, Kate Post, and Sean Murphy presented “Integrated Crisis Communications: A Trial by Fire.” University Photographer Jason Halley also co-presented Thursday with a talk titled, “Visually Stunning.”

Awards and Activities

After tossing consecutive no-hitters against Cal State East Bay, Chico State softball starting pitcher Brooke Larsen earned consecutive pitching awards. The junior was awarded the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Pitcher of the Week, and later was named the Wilson/National Fastpitch Coaches Association National Pitcher of the Week.  

Three members of the Chico State men’s basketball team were named to the All-CCAA Team. Justin Briggs and Malik Duffy earned First Team honors, and Isaiah Brooks was named to the Second Team. Additionally, Briggs was named the CCAA Defensive Player of the Year.

A pair from the Chico State women’s basketball team were honored by the CCAA. Maddy Wong was named to the All-CCAA First Team, and Shay Stark was named to the All-CCAA Second Team.

Men’s basketball’s Kevin Warren was presented with the CCAA Championship Scholar Award, an honor that goes to the student-athlete with the highest grade point average at each CCAA Championships finals site.
