Awards, Honors, and Activities

Matthew Stone (Department of Marketing) was given the 2023 Citation Award at the California Park and Recreation Society Annual Conference “in recognition of outstanding and significant contributions in citation to the field of recreation therapy, hospitality, and tourism” by the Recreation Therapy Section Board of Directors.

Chico State women’s golfer Taylor Stewart topped the field at the Sonoma State Spring Invitational with a two-round score of 1-over par 155. Thanks to her performance, the junior earned California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Golf Player of the Week honors.

Competing on a large stage, Chico State javelin thrower Josie Peterson earned the CCAA T&F Field Athlete of the Week award. At the Stanford Invitational, Peterson placed third among mostly Division I athletes with a toss of 43.16 meters—which is the fifth-longest throw in school history, an NCAA Provisional mark, and is the top mark among CCAA athletes so far this season.
