Publications, Presentations, and Exhibits

Ana Medic, College of Agriculture, and senior agriculture major Consuelo Baez Vega co-authored a piece in The California State University Journal of Sustainability and Climate Change. The article, “Benefits of Cover Cropping Systems in Walnut Orchards as Sustainable Agricultural Practice,” explores the feasibility of using different kinds of cover crops in walnut orchards as a way to increase the soils quality, improve biological management through rise of natural beneficial predators, and enhance integrated pest management systems.

Awards and Activities

Conor Wells, a senior middle-distance runner, was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Track and Field Track Athlete of the Week. A week after Wells helped the Wildcats set a new school and meet record in the distance medley relay at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, he bested the 28-runner field in the 800 meters at the Sacramento State Invitational in a personal best 1:52.80.

After his performance at the Sacramento State Invitational, junior Adam Kasten was named the CCAA Men’s Track and Field Field Athlete of the Week. Wells topped the 14-athlete field in the long jump, improving on his conference-best mark with a wind-aided effort of 7.17 meters and a non-wind-aided leap of 7.12 meters.
