Worth Sharing: Health Services Administration College Bowl Team Scores Wins

Publications, Presentations, and Exhibits

Head groundskeeper Mike Alonzo explored the native plants in California in LawnStarter’s piece, “32 Native Plants for California: Flowers, Succulents, Shrubs, and Trees.”

Awards, Honors, and Activities

Chico State women’s golfer Taylor Stewart capped her collegiate career by being recognized on the All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) team for the 2022–23 season. The second time she’s been recognized like this by the conference, Stewart was named All-CCAA Honorable Mention as a true freshman during the 2019 – 20 campaign.

Chico State men’s golfers Tyler Ashman and Dakota Ochoa were honored with All-CCAA accolades. Ochoa had three top-5 finishes this year, including capturing the CCAA Championships, and Ashman paced the field in last fall’s Southwest Airlines HPU Sharks Shootout.

Chico State’s Health Services Administration College Bowl Team recently competed in the statewide HSA College Bowl in Irvine. Chico State entered two undergraduate teams in the competition (which was a case study competition for the first time) and of the six undergraduate teams from four universities, Chico State’s teams took first and second place. The members of the first-place team were team captain Maribel Oviedo, Olivia Peirce, Katelyn Bouda, and Jacqueline Meija. The second-place team consisted of team captain Sydney Kuhn, Arlene Bautista, Brooke Eisler, and Erika Gutierrez. The team was coached by Department of Public Health and Health Services Administration faculty Rick Narad and lecturer Lauren Murphy.

The website Top College Consultants listed Chico State as a “Neurodiversity-Friendly College.”
