Worth Sharing: Traver Honored with Literary Award

Publications, Presentations and Exhibits

Matthew Stone, Department of Recreation, Hospitality, and Parks Management, was featured on the website WalletHub for his Q&A titled, “Best Cities for Staycations.”

Awards and Activities

Teresa Traver, Department of English, was honored with and Indie Reader’s Discovery Award for 2020 for her book, “Spooky and the Gargoyle,” in the Children’s category.

Women’s basketball player Maddy Wong received the 2020 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award, the annual conference honor recognizing achievements on the court and in the classroom.

Distance runner Wyatt Baxter received First-Team Men’s Cross Country/Track and Field Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The junior athlete was one of just 87 Division II men’s cross country and track and field athletes nationwide to be named to the first team.

Distance runner Nora Pizzella was named First-Team Women’s Cross Country/Track and Field Academic All-District by CoSIDA. The double major was one of 90 Division II women’s cross country and track and field athletes to receive the award.

Hakim Tokhi received the 2020 CCAA Men’s Track and Field Championship Scholar Award, presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average participating at the final CCAA championship site in each conference-sponsored sport; Alex Davila, Jack Emmanuel, Randall LeBlanc, and Alex Robie were also named to the Men’s Track and Field CCAA All-Star Team.

Taylor Bailey, Destiny Everett, and Kaylee Shoemaker were named to the Women’s Track and Field CCAA All-Star Team.

Four Chico State softball players were named to the CCAA Softball All-Star team—the most of any school. Brooke Larsen, Sam Mulock, Reilani Peleti, and Kristin Worley were among the 20 athletes named to the team.

Additionally, Larsen also earned accolades by being named to the CoSIDA 2020 Academic All-District Softball Team.

Baseball player Tyler Stofiel was named to the CoSIDA Baseball Academic All-District team—his second such honor in three years.
