Awards and Activities

Chico State’s University Communications team won two Circle of Excellence Awards, as announced by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Chico State won a Grand Gold Award for the photography series Ag Can’t Wait, images captured by University Photographer Jason Halley to augment Ashley Gebb’s storytelling. Chico State also won a Silver Award in marketing for the Billboard to Uplift Our Community. When pre-paid billboards for the College of Humanities and Fine Arts’ 2020 spring musical could no longer be used, this creative project—using photography by Jessica Bartlett—reimagined them into a message of community solidarity during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Incoming student Ashlee Rangel was awarded an Imperial Valley Produce Scholarship by the Imperial Valley Vegetable Growers Association. In order to be eligible, students must attend or plan to attend a four-year college or university, and high school applicants must have maintained a grade point average of 3.3 or above.
