Awards and Activities
With support from the USDA Tribal College Research Grants Program, the Center for Regenerative Agriculture and Resilient Systems (CRARS) is partnering with Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College (NHSC) to study cover cropping systems in the NHSC Four Sisters Community Garden. The three-year $220,000 project is led by project director Lori Nelson, Land Grant Director at NHSC and will study the impacts of cover crop termination methods on soil quality, crop yield, weed pressure, and crop quality. The CRARS will provide technical assistance and soils and nutrient density analysis to the project.
Forty-one Chico State student-athletes received 2020 California Collegiate Athletic Association Spring All-Academic Team honors, an award presented to those who competed in a CCAA-sponsored spring sport and compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher. The student-athlete award winners were, for baseball: Tyler Erne, Brendan Henry, Alex Kent, Troy Maki, Gerardo Sandoval, Tyler Stofiel, Josh Verdon, and Cody Wissler; for softball: Rachael Atkins, Shelby Burdette, Maddy Johnson, Brooke Larsen, Amanda Metzger, and Reilani Peleti; for men’s golf: Tyler Ashman, Nicholas Caputo, Kyle Matz, and Myoung Kim; women’s golf: Kelsey Blaylock, Clare Brady, and Natalie Kinney; men’s track and field: Jason Adams, Colton Cummings, Ryan Elkins, Anthony Kerrigan, Kevin Telford, Hakim Tokhi; and women’s track and field: Allysa Ashburn, Savannah Bailey, Lara Condosta, MacKenzie Deeter, Rebecca Graham, Kylie McCloskey, Jacqueline Massey-Blake, Isabella Moyer, Sophie Pearson, Jordan Poczobutt, Kaylee Shoemaker, Nadia Torkman, Elajah Trosclair, and Kyndall Vargas.
