Worth Sharing: Computer Science Associate Professor Recognized With International Wildcat Award

Kathryn Mercurio (Department of Marketing) co-authored a piece titled “Expressing Dual Concern in Criticism for Wrongdoing: The Persuasive Power of Criticizing with Care.” The piece’s main finding is that criticism can be more persuasive when the criticizer shows they have concern for the welfare of the people that they are criticizing. 

Awards, Honors, and Activities

Abbas Attarwala (Department of Computer Science) is the proud recipient of the International Wildcat Outstanding Faculty Award for the 2022–23 academic year. Attarwala notes that this recognition is not only a testament to his colleagues’ work in the Computer Science department and University-wide, but also an affirmation of the collective efforts as an international community to foster understanding, curiosity, and mutual respect.

Chico State’s Kelly More, Brooke Pelletier, and Taylor Stewart were named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America Scholar Team. The golfers were among 1,400 student-athletes from 378 programs around the country to be named academic scholars.
