Awards and Activities

The College Sports Information Directors of America recognized distance runner Nora Pizzella to its Academic All-District Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country Team. She was just one of 98 Division II track and cross country athletes in the country to receive the honors.

The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) awarded 109 Chico State student-athletes with All-Academic honors for the 2020–21 academic year. The award is presented to letterwinners in CCAA-sponsored sports programs who post a grade point average of 3.4 or higher in a minimum of 24 semester units at the certifying institution.

Publications, Presentations, and Exhibits

Faculty Joel Minden (Department of Psychology) was quoted in a pair of articles last month. In Fast Company’s story, “How to help your team overcome survival mode survival mode post-pandemic,” Minden provides examples of how leaders can promote self-care and stress management to their teams, and in Vogue’s “The Daily Journal Prompts That Helped Me Curb Anxious Feelings,” he offers ways individuals can help navigate through the uncertainty of the global pandemic and life after it.

The website Lawnstarter quoted faculty Matthew Stone (Department of Recreation, Hospitality, and Parks Management) in its piece, “2021’s Best Cities for Carless Weekend Trips.” The article details cities that visitors can easily explore with the help of ride-hailing services, bike rentals, and public transit.
