Worth Sharing: Soccer Teams Honored For Exceptional Work In Classroom

Awards and Activities

The Chico State women’s and men’s soccer teams both earned United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Honors, presented to programs with a combined team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The women’s side earned a cumulative 3.53 GPA, marking the 8th straight honor from the United Soccer Coaches, and the highest team cumulative GPA among all California’s public universities, regardless of division. The men posted a combined 3.20 GPA and the Wildcats are one of three schools in the CCAA to be recognized.

The Chico State men’s basketball team was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches with the 2021–22 Team Excellence Award, which is given to programs that completed the academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. In addition, four individual players—Joshua Curls, Malik Duffy, Colby Orr, and Kevin Warren—were named to the 2021–22 Honors Court.

The Chico State Athletics program was recognized as the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s (CCAA) top-performing academic institution for 2021–22 with a conference-high 118 student-athletes earning CCAA All-Academic honors and conference-best 105 named Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Award winners.
