Awards and Activities

Thanks to her performance at the Bill Roe WWU classic in Washington on October 9, cross country runner Hannah Ryan was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week of October 11. Ryan placed 13th in the race, her third consecutive top-15 finish this season.

A team led by Jeremy Fishel (Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing) was named finalists in the Ana Avatar XPrize Competition, the world’s leader in designing and operating incentive competitions to solve humanity’s grand challenges. Fishel’s team, Tangible Research, developed the Tactile Telerobot, a high-fidelity dexterous telerobot in use in the US, UK, and Asia.

Publications, Presentations, and Exhibits

Monica So (Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry) was awarded a National Science Foundation grant, titled “LEAPS-MPS: Tunable Hybrid Materials for Studying Charge Transport.” The two-year, $250,000 award will be used to fund postdoctoral researcher training and professional development, enhance undergraduate student research training and education, and promote equity, diversity, and inclusion for women, first-generation college students, and underrepresented minorities in STEM at Chico State.
