Worth Sharing: Record-Setting Hofman Earns Conference Honor

Awards and Activities

Chico State women’s soccer player Emma Hofman earned the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s Women’s Soccer Player of the Week. The freshman goalkeeper set a school record with her third consecutive shutout and has recorded 10 total shutouts on the year, second-most in all of Division II.

Shane Mayor (Department of Geology and Environmental Sciences) secured a four-year, $499K grant from the National Science Foundation. A collaborative grant with Chenning Tong at Clemson University to study atmospheric turbulence, the funding will support students and a field experiment in the summer of 2023. 

For its nonpartisan student voter participation efforts during the 2020 General Election, Chico State earned the Gold Seal from the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. To obtain the Gold Seal, campuses had to report that 70–80 percent of its student body participated in voting.
