Media Arts, Design, and Technology and Journalism/Public Relations double major Garrett Hartman penned a piece on the website Highbrow Magazine titled, “So What Makes a Great Cover Song?”

Awards, Honors, and Activities

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing has selected Chico State’s School of Nursing to pilot learning strategies to build leadership skills in new nurses. Chico State is one of 10 nursing schools in the nation selected and one of two in the state (the other is Samuel Merritt University in Oakland).

An article by Joel Minden (Department of Psychology) appeared on Pocket/Mozilla’s “Best of 2022” list. His piece, titled “How to Take Things Less Personally,” originally appeared on the website, Psyche.

Volleyball player Gretta Kirkby is one of two California college student-athletes given the CalHOPE Courage Award for December. Kirkby was recognized for overcoming anxiety and adversity to successfully complete her academic and athletic career.

After a pair of scintillating road games, Chico State men’s basketball player Jojo Murphy was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. The true freshman was recognized after scoring a career-high 32 points in an overtime win at Cal Poly Humboldt, then posting 30 points in the Wildcats loss at Sonoma State.
