Worth Sharing: Chico State Student-Athletes Rack up CCAA Honors

Awards and Activities

Senior catcher Claire Wayne was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s (CCAA) Softball Player of the Week, after batting .667 in the Wildcats’ four-game sweep of Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Sophomore pitcher Kenton Carruthers was named the CCAA’s Pitcher of the Week, after earning his first two collegiate wins.

Track and field athlete Jack Johnson was named the CCAA’s Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, after notching the second fastest 3,000-meter steeplechase in all of Division II.

Track and field athlete Nicole Anthony was named the CCAA Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, with her Division II-best 3,000-meter steeplechase last week.

Students from Chico State’s Concrete Industry Management Program were awarded first place in the inaugural National Precast Concrete Association Design Competition.
