Publications, Presentations and Exhibits

Professor Emeritus David Kagan (Department of Physics) penned an article on the website, The Hardball Times, titled “The Physics of Throwing a Ball Out of the Yard.”

Awards and Activities

Student Zaynah Daley was recently awarded a scholarship from the North County (San Diego) African American Women’s Association.

Claudia Stuart (Department of Geography and Planning) received the 2019 Academic Award of Excellence by the American Planning California Association for the “Oroville Alley Revitalization Program: Vision Plan and Preliminary Feasibility Study.” Claudia worked with her fall 2016 Site Planning and her spring 2017 Environmental Impact Analysis classes on the study.

Six Chico State track and field athletes were recognized for their academic excellence, earning All-Academic team honors for the 2018-19 academic year from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Kayden Carpenter, Megan Farrell, Nora Pizzella, Alexandria Tucker, Wyatt Baxter, and Derek Morton all received honors.

The Chico State volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 academic year. Chico State was one of only three California College Athletic Association schools to be included on the list.

Chico State women’s golfers Natalie Kinney and Olivia Loeffler received All-American Scholar recognition for the 2018-19 academic year by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WCGA). Kinney and Loeffler were among 13 California College Athletic Association women’s golfers to be recognized.

The website RegisteredNursing.org—a nursing advocacy organization—recognized Chico State’s School of Nursing, ranking its online RN to BSN nursing program as one of California’s best, coming in at No. 3 in the state.
