Worth Sharing: NSPR Captures National Murrow Award

Awards and Activities

The news team at North State Public Radio won a National Edward R. Murrow Award, one of the most prestigious awards in the broadcasting industry, for “After Paradise,” the station’s locally produced weekly program covering Camp Fire recovery.

University Communications captured a pair of prestigious awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). UCOMM received the Bronze Award for its Camp Fire response through its messaging after the Camp Fire. Jason Halley’s photographs for the spring 2018 Chico Statements story “Restless Dreamers” earned a Bronze Award. Additionally, Travis Souders’ story “Restless Dreamers” was one of 13 finalists for the Platinum Award for Article for the Year, a global competition in which the story was up against more than 400 other entries.

Three members of the Chico State baseball team earned All-West Region accolades. Alex DeVito is an American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) First Team All-West Region selection; Andrew Lopez is a First Team D2CCA selection and Second Team All-West Region pick by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA); and the NCBWA also picked JT Navarro for honorable mention All-West Region.
