Publications, Presentations and Exhibits

Andrew G. Harp, from the Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences, co-authored a University at Buffalo study examining the physics of lava-water interactions, which can sometimes make eruptions more dangerous.

Awards and Activities

Stephanie Parker, a graduate student in the Department of Biological Sciences, won second place for her research presentation at a professional conference (called 2018 Entomological Society of America, Entomological Society of Canada and Entomological Society of British Columbia Joint Annual Meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada last month. Stephanie’s talk, titled “The impacts of gall size and shape of housekeeping behavior of the gall-inducing aphid, Tamalia coweni,” was recognized in the 2018 Student Competition for the Presidents Prize, in the Behavior Session.

Kim Anderson, a graduate student in the School of Nursing, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Rideout Hospital Auxiliary in Marysville.
