Worth Sharing: Seufferlein Sales Program Shines

Awards and Activities

Chico State’s Seufferlein Sales Program team, led by coach Tom Villa, from the Department of Finance and Marketing, captured first place in the 2019 AT&T National Sales Competition in Dallas on October 11. SSP students, Hayley Weik, Ryan Brumfield, Kendall Harding, Michala Pelren, Xavier Sanchez, and Alicia Dietsch, were each awarded $2,000, and 10,000 was also awarded to the program.

Pablo Cornejo, assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, was awarded a $250,000 research grant from the National Science Foundation. Cornejo was co-Principal Investigator—on a multidisciplinary team from University of Nevada, Reno; University of Florida; and Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (Spain)—for a four-year grant exploring major groundwater, surface water, and air quality pollution concerns associated with dairies in California.

P Willey, faculty emeritus from the Department of Anthropology, was a section instructor for an Anthropologia Forense course, organized by Comite Internacional de la Cruz Roja, and presented by Escuela National de Anthropologia e Historia, Chilpancinco, Guerrero, Mexico from September 23-27.

Senior Talia Swangler was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, after a seventh-place finish at the Western Washington University Cross Country Classic on October 12.

Sophomore Trad Berti captured his second CCAA Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week award after a second-place finish at the Western Washington University Cross Country Classic.

Senior Christopher Calla was recognized as the CCAA Men’s Golfer of the Week. Colla won the Sierra Central Wildcat Classic at Butte Creek Country Club.
