Worth Sharing: University Advancement Claims Eight CASE Awards

The following is a listing of professional achievements by Chico State faculty, staff, and students. Submit your professional achievements to ucomm@csuchico.edu.

Awards and Activities

University Advancement won eight awards (four gold and four silver) from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). For its work in the issues and crisis management category, University Communications’ response to the Camp Fire earned a Gold Award. Judges also recognized the Wildcats Rise Fire Recovery Fund with a Gold Award. For magazines with circulations of more than 75,000, the Chico Statements Camp Fire Special Issue also won gold. Judges recognized “The Rise of Megafires” cover of Chico Statements (fall 2018) with both a Gold Award for publication cover design and a Silver Award in the illustration category. Two Silver Awards were also given for the 2017–18 Annual Report: Unlocking Our Potential, in both the cover design category and as a fundraising publication. Finally, in the single-day events category, the public launch of Transform Tomorrow | The Campaign for Chico State earned a Silver Award.

Chico State softball pitcher Sam Mulock was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s Pitcher of the Week. The lefthander recorded a pair of shutout wins and a save in three appearances against Cal State Monterey Bay.

Thanks to a scorching weekend series against Cal State Monterey Bay, Chico State’s Drew Rodriguez was named the CCAA Softball Player of the Week. Rodriguez went 8-for-13 with a pair of doubles and drove in six runs.

Chico State’s Eddie Zavala was named the CCAA Player of the Week. The current conference leader in batting average went 9-for-13 during a three-game sweep of Fresno Pacific.
