Worth Sharing: Wayne’s Impact Recognized by CCAA

Awards and Activities

Chico State athletes Karlie Garcia and Wyatt Baxter received Google Cloud Cross Country/Track and Field Academic All-America honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Garcia received First Team Academic All-America recognition, after being named to the Second Team last year. Baxter received Third Team Academic All-America recognition. Just 90 Division II student-athletes are recognized nationwide for this honor.

Chico State softball catcher Claire Wayne received the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s annual Impact Award. The Impact Award is presented each academic year to one CCAA student-athlete who has exemplified leadership through participation in community service and engagement activities while maintaining dedication to academics and athletics. Selections are made by the conference’s 13 Student Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC).

Jim Downing, Department of Management, published an article with his MGMT 454 student researchers in Wine Industry Advisor titled “A Strategic Event Management Study of California Wineries.”
